Same/Next Day
I generally don't book work in advance but respond on the day for Same/Next Day. Of course, a few advance bookings are made but these account for around 10% if that.
I operate just in Brighton and Hove, around 2 mile radius from Preston Circus.
As I mostly work within in a 2-3 mile radius of central Brighton, I can often pop in on my way to another job as I criss-cross Brighton and Hove during the day. I can often 'take a look'. Sometimes, I can do the job then if that is possible for us both, or we can book it in. There is no call out charge.
Generally, Mon - Fri 8am to 3pm.
So that you can go about your day, I give a 1 hour window of arrival with an update about 1 hour beforehand meaning you can get back home if you are out.
Punctuality is very important to me and a few texts can make the whole process as convenient as possible. I originally started out as OnTimePlumber.co.uk.
All prices quoted are the price you pay. There is no VAT added on top, so what you are told upfront is the full amount — no surprises when the invoice arrives.
I have a card reader. Bank transfer also possible. I avoid cash and don't do discounts for cash as all income is recorded for tax purposes. All work is paid for at the end of the job. NO INVOICING.
There is no fee just for turning up. You are only charged for the work carried out, which means there is no cost to having someone come and assess the problem before a decision is made.
Jobs are priced before work begins, not calculated by the hour after the fact. You know exactly what you are paying before anything is touched, with no risk of the bill creeping up as time goes on. It also means that return visits do not incur additional labour or parts charges - 'you pay just the once'.
If the problem is not resolved, you pay nothing. This keeps the focus on actually solving the issue rather than simply attending and billing for time regardless of the outcome.
All work and parts are guaranteed for 1 year and any return visits due to my work or parts is covered, meaning 'you pay just the once'
Fixed prices cover all work:
Prices are fixed and you 'pay just the one' no matter how many call backs are needed if at all. I take the risk.
The reason there is one flat rate rather than an hourly charge is that even a job that looks straightforward can turn into something far more involved. Remedial plumbing has a habit of revealing hidden problems once work starts, and charging by the hour would mean a customer with a difficult job pays far more than one with an easy one. A fixed price averages this out — it protects you from the nightmare scenario while keeping things fair overall.
Saniflo work is priced higher because it typically involves removing the WC, investigating the unit, and carrying out the repair — usually two to three times the effort of a standard small job.
Please note there is a MINIMUM charge of £60 even if it is just a '5 minute job'. It is part of the mathematics of pricing.
I became a qualified plumber in 1996 and went on to gain Gas Safe and Part P Electrical certifications as well as developing all-round building skills. I ran Small Job On Time Same Day Plumbers Ltd, a plumbing business that accumulated 1,000+ reviews on Checkatrade over 15 years from 2006.
In 2020 I returned to IT, moving into the field of AI at CraigWestAI.com. In 2026 I decided to come back to plumbing as AI could do it all by just describing what one wants in plain English — including this site, which was built by simply describing in plain English what was needed — as well as the fact that I really love construction.
My passions are my two dogs: Leo, an adolescent Fox Red Lab, and my new puppy Pip, a Cockapoo.
Specialist Saniflo repairs with a well-stocked van carrying common parts and spare machines. Labour-only service with access to discounted Saniflo supply through a trusted partner.
A Saniflo macerator system is an electrically powered pump unit that grinds toilet waste and paper into fine slurry, then pushes it through small-diameter pipework to the soil stack. This allows toilets and cloakrooms to be installed where gravity drainage is difficult, including basements, loft spaces and extensions.
Yes. Saniflo systems are designed to pump wastewater vertically and horizontally through small pipework, which is why they are useful in properties where standard gravity drainage is impractical.
The most common cause is a slow cistern leak or dripping inlet that keeps raising the water level and triggering the membrane switch.
Best practice is rigid pipework with vertical lift taken first near the unit, then a correctly-falled horizontal run and access for maintenance.
